Education, Culture, Youth and Sport: How do you want to learn, create, and exercise?

Education, Culture, Youth and Sport

The temporary closing of schools and universities, cultural and sports facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic gave rise to new ways to learn, to be creative and to exercise. Whilst the return to pre-pandemic ways has been anticipated with excitement in areas such as cultural performances or team sports, other developments are here to stay. The digitalisation of education and workplaces, for example, has only just started.

To make education and training systems fit for the digital age, the EU set out the ‘Digital Education Action Plan’ which aims for high-quality, inclusive and accessible digital education in all of Europe. On top of that, the EU programme ‘Creative Europe’ assists the cultural and creative sectors to seize the opportunities of digitalisation and globalisation. Young Europeans are supported through the Erasmus+ programme that provides opportunities to gain skills and experiences needed to tackle tomorrow’s challenges. It includes formal and non-formal learning, transnational mobility, exchange of good practices, volunteering and solidarity as well as sports.

What is your vision for the future of education? Which skills do you need for the green and digital workplace of tomorrow? Do you have creative ideas for the culture and audiovisual sector? How would you tackle physical inactivity? Share your ideas and have your say on how you would like to see culture, sports, and education shape your future as a young European!

Motivation: I think that Europe deserves her reputation for being a lighthouse of knowledge for the world in the past. But I would like to see that in ACTION in today's world: I'm disappointed when the only free providers of knowledge on the internet are big private universities, mostly in the US. (Referring to MIT's, Standford's open courses etc.)

Proposal: Create a committee that finds Europe's most impactful and renowned word-class, scientist and artists and fund them to give workshops -or whole courses- taught by THEM. Make these courses free for all Europeans and the whole world in a single platform.
The content on the platform could be split in two categories:
1) workshops/seminars and interviews for the general public to keep all of our citizens informed on basic knowledge for every field and keep them up-to date.
2) courses which go musch deeper into a subject and are longer in duration. They could be at university level. You would be amazed by how many citizens want to educate them selvs in such topics.

The above audiovisual media should be top-quality with specific requirements in videography and content.
This should not be a university, but a platform. I don't think that an elitist university is what it's needed. Just great, top-notch, free(!) educational content selected and funded by the EU made to deeply educate. Showcasing Europe's thought-leaders in the arts, philosophy and sciences.

Closing Thoughts: Such an initiative would showcase Europe's ability to respond to the pressing problem of education, that is not accessible for many, not only in Europe. Most importantly, I think it could restore Europe's perutation as a great study destination and absorb the post-erthquakes of UK's exit from the Union.

Changes in our current education system are necessary. Young people have great ideas but few ways to share them. Governments should consider proposals made by people living through their school years, and not only those aged 18+. Adolescents have great ideas and are willing to work in order to put them into practice, but they have no means by which to communicate them to national and regional authorities.

Proposal: create opportunities for young people’s voices to be heard where needed. Volunteering projects available for teens in their local areas, online debating and sharing ideas, etc.

Thank you.

Keyword: militant democracy
Against these years of populism we need more Visionaries who are not afraid to stand up for ideals and principles of a democracy and our EU values and unite the people in a vision of a equitable and harmonious humanity. An answer of the question, where is our destiny? What do we want to pursue as a Union? Furthermore, our EU values have to be more imparted in schools, museums, or any educational institution. They are a legacy of our forbears, a solid ground of peace which is to be appreciated, remembered and uphold.
Finally, every citizen should have the ability to be conscienced about his rights and obligations as an EU citizen. Only together can we sustain peace and prosperity.

My argument : Europe has a big history in terms of culture and arts such as music, films, drawings, sculptures etc. There are so many talented European artists that do not get the exposure that they deserve. Usually we get influenced by American movies/music/art and not so much by European art. I think that's very unfortunate, since we are part of the same Union and sharing art would be very helpful to find common ground and get to know each other's country better. I'm very much interested in films and music for example and I've noticed how amazing modern French music is and how beautiful Polish films are shot, yet they are not getting any promotion and normally they do not reach a wide audience and I know that If I was doing my own research I would never be able to come across with them!

WHAT'S THE IDEA?

The idea is to try and promote European art within the Union (this will create bridges between member states through art) but also try to promote European art and culture outside the Union.

The proposal : for a start to create an EU agency dedicated to arts in the EU. This agency could help with the development, support and promotion of ideas related with arts. This could be the right promotion and support of Film/Music/Drawing and/or other Art Festivals in Europe. They could support European streaming platforms similar to Netflix that focus mostly on European films and culture. They could even create a pan-European entertainment industry similar to Hollywood.

I know this sounds a bit overstretched, I'm just saddened by the potential EU artists have and the lack of support by their states (both in terms of finance and motivation). Maybe a pan-European action is needed.
Plus Europe used to be number 1 in arts back in the days.
We could do it again.

Thank you for listening!

Based on my personal experience I think the EU should increase the number of scholarships for students that want to start undergraduate/graduate studies in the EU. Many times I was not eligible to apply for any help or support from my country to study even if I was in economic difficulty. Scholarships or low-loan to students with financial difficulties should be a priority for the EU in order to give everyone equal opportunities in terms of education.

As the description suggests "Shape your future as a young european"

I believe that people from EU should be brought up as europeans, so that it is easier in the future for everyone to make that "inner switch" from being a representative of a country/nationality to representing Europe & calling themselves european, rather than going backwards & in 50 years people still associating themselves with being hungarian, portuguese, russian, danish, etc.
There is nothing wrong with being a part of a certain culture, identity, nationality - there is something very wrong when we have Brexit, Poland resisting in every way possible & Hungary supporting it, cities of Balkans & Eastern Europe looking like from a war movie, South & East of Europe in masses going to North & West in search of a better (more often basically a liveable) life.

EU should include everyone in Europe - definitely UK, all of Balkans, all of Eastern Europe, maybe South Caucasus & Turkey also.

Exclude the economical, military & technological dependency on USA, China & others - Europe has all of the power & potential to be mostly self-relient. That does not mean to isolate from the rest of the world - it means to lead the world in a positive manner.

All of these points should be tought to the young generation, otherwise we will see at the very least a not as strong Europe & in the worst case a shattered Europe in the not so far off future.

I am writing this in the Education & Culture sector because a great idea might seem great to others, though if the parties involved were brought up in vastly different backgrounds - the great idea will be put off & replaced by an idea of a smaller picture, therefore educating the young ones of being a part of a common european family should be one of the top priorities on the agenda.

Thank you & have a great day

Invest in the film industry, as it employs not only actors/directors, but also graphic designers, sound editors, cgi operators, generally many who are educated in creative fields.
The EU can provide subsidies to film producers, market the movies, and distribute them throughout the EU, as well as provide a common film organization with award shows for European non-anglophone movies

Response to alexandros Filippou by Lyubomir  • 24 June 2021

It is a good idea. The European culture and identity is still distant and unknown for many European citizens. The US audiovisual content, différent séries and movies right now are much more appreciated in all over the European union. The creating of quality cultural content that affirms precisely the European identity in the EU from the EU producers will bring life to a much wider range of European policies and projects which are already started or will be started soon...

I think, European Union should makes a law that everyone should finish high school diploma at least in order to promote Education.
I think European institutions should orginize more youth event, extra criclumum activities where student will learn Public speaking, how to stay motivated and they should orginize more motivation session to inspire youth.
I think, European institution should make a law that everyone school, collage and universities should have exercise subject where every student will learn about physical education and about importance of exercise in well-being and stay healthy. This should be mandatory to pass the semester.
EU Institutions should ban Smoking in campus area and should talk about disadvantages of smoking and drinking Alcohol so many young student will become healthier.

There is wide-spread misconception that the succes in further career is strictly connected to university education. It is definitely not true, while tousands of graduating young students face no job opportunity reflecting their field of expertise. In the meantime a demand for electricians, mechanics, plumbers, nurses, welders and wide range of other phisical jobs soars. My proposal is to include in EU budget special funding for technical education. Additionally, such a fund would help promote phisical jobs, which society desparately needs and fihgt a myth that those who did not attend a college are inferior to those after universities.
Better-suited technological education would curb structural unemployment visible in some of member states. It will offer better jobs than working in fast-food restaurant or shopping centre, where usually end up students after certain humanities studies

We should teach about the normality of being attracted to the opposite sex in schools. It's awful to hear so many homophobic slurs tossed around the halls, making closeted kids afraid to be themselves. From where I'm from, it's not considered normal to be queer. Even if you're just an ally, you are judged. More than that - picked on, bullied, harassed. Don't get me started on racism and how it affects countries with a small number of people of color. Again, here, it's normal for boys to call their white friends the n-word just because there are no black people around to hear it. And the teachers, the professors do nothing. They just laugh it off.
Educate the children, the young, the new generation about how there is nothing wrong with the difference in skin color and with loving who you want to.

Change the strategy for advance research and PhD in the university. Currently, universities in the EU are more paper-based focus and they only consider number of the publications, grades and other metrics while they have no or zero contributions on solving the actual problem in the world. We consider a university as a good or advance in research if they have high volume of the publication and their papers have a good citation. This leads university to deviate from their main goal which is training people and solving real world problem into focus more on publications.
The idea is to consider less values for the grades and the publications and focus more on research output which would solve an actual problems. In this case we consider a university as a good and advance one where it come up with research outcome solving an actual problem (e.g. taking steps to reduce poverty, achieve any U.N. SDG sub-goals , making life of people better, ...) and people observe a tangible result. When universities focus more on number of publications and impact factors of their papers and solely consider grading then it will leads to waste of people's tax on just publishing some papers rather than solving an issue. This way would required more collaboration with the industries too.

Education and school adaptation
In the first place, we found that the students were under psychological stress during home schooling and are now carrying them. Care should be taken to ensure that teaching subjects are dealt with and that new subjects are added or already existing ones are removed, so that these pupils are able to adapt to normal conditions. Digitalisation is also needed to enable better teaching. In addition, in our view, it makes sense to treat the teaching material on an equal footing, at least in degree classes, so that practically everyone has the same chances (abitur, real school degree). Another issue which is very important is the continued and equal cost of travel resources. We call for an adjustment of prices that allow students to travel a lower price on flight, train and train in order to come to school or participate in an exchange programme.

Cosette  • 13 July 2021

Change the education system where the main event is sitting down and listening to an educator for long hours; this is not teaching or advantageous in any way. You are simply shaping students mind into thinking that there is only ONE way things should be done, no opportunity for different thinking and stimulation of different parts of the brain.

Teaching should be done at intervals, include students opinions or in case of a science subject their concerns on the particular topic. The syllabus should be broad and ultimately shaped by what the students want to learn about but more importantly on what the main concerns of the world are at the moment. Eg; for science students their studies should be regarding science of present day not on methods that have been proven wrong ages ago yet they still have to study on them. Courses that give pathway to industries that we are trying to lean away from such as that of crude oil and our dependency on it should not be made available anymore.

My idea is to change the way education and culture are delivered: We would like to look for the construction of open spaces, green areas, where possible, to hold lessons; In addition, you will see a rethink of the school/university/university relationship, incorporating more practical initiatives, including regular and mandatory initiatives, so as to advocate the development of skills, including technical and practical skills, and to encourage and educate young people from the outset to an operational mindset. I would also include spaces for learning unconventional disciplines: Logic, safety on the web, green environmental education, etc. to enable children and young people to be truly aware of what is happening around us.

The European Union must play a more proactive role in education in developing countries, so that these people can have a better quality of life.

In this way, I suggested the funding of schools and institutions that promote the education of young people in developing countries and that instill the values of the Union as well as a possibility to work and continue their studies in the Union, as long as they agree and adhere to the values of the European Union (democracy, gender equality, respect for human rights...).

It is important to change education because comprehensive education is essential for every European citizen and unfortunately, so far, it is not provided in the form it should be.
Proposals
1. The inclusion of a subject in the school curriculum on the identity of pupils as European citizens. An area that is barely covered by existing subjects and needs to be given a place in the programme, as this will teach students information and details about the importance of the EU in their lives and the possibilities offered to them.
2. We note that in the material taught at all levels, art only occupies a typical position which is not enough to inspire and make students aware of its value. Thus, art must play a leading role in teaching and through actions and activities students discover the magic world of creation.
3. Finally, young people’s voices must be heard. For many years we have witnessed endless reforms in education with only a few of them responding to the needs of young people. There must be direct contact with the competent authorities so that a system that is fair, efficient and pleasant for all, pupils and teachers can be set up and implemented.
Thank you very much!

Today, with Brexit, almost solved, with the EU outside the EU it is time to consider a common language within the European Union. I am not inclined to favour any of them. It could be French, German or Italian. It should be a language that must be part of the educational curriculum in all the countries of the European Union and on which all types of economic and social operations should rest.

Miguel Poço  • 14 July 2021

The European Union must intsill the Union's Spirit to students of all ages, since they first start school untill they become 18 and join college.

Students must be teached how to protest, since most of the new generation isn't abled to manifest for its personal values, nowadays when we look at any Demonstration and we will only see 30 or plus year-old people executing the right to manifest. New generation is laying back on the last generations' work about human rights when it comes to appear in public demonstrations.

Students must be teached how to consume culture. How will they do that if school teaches them to learn maths and biology, and doesn't teach them to watch a movie at the cinema, listen to a musical concert, go see a play at the theater; because school is more and more about the classroom and not about the life.

Students must be teached volunteering since young age, not only in college or they won't be used to it and it will make it more difficult to learn.

That's not the Spirit of the European Union. Children must be teached about different cultures and different ways of being, about culture, about human rights,, about recieving and giving. about giving and not recieving - when, sometimes, others need more than we do. How is that possible that children don't show any love to the other countries of the Union and even of the world? Students need to be teached some love, don't overload them with maths because when it comes to interact with others, maths won't have any value but love will.

In the EU, students must learn how to be a person, first of all. The Planet needs us more than ever, the planet needs every student to unite and fight climatic changes, pollution, human rights violation and to create a better world.

Research funding, contributory scholarships for teaching to postgraduate students, funding for doctoral students. By funding students and paying their stamps, giving the researcher student dignity will not leave migrants. The situation is currently unacceptable and discriminatory for larger students. My proposal is to improve the quality of the education provided in secondary education in Greece, in relation to the subject of history.

I believe that the lesson of history is a very constructive tool for every student to understand how it is a science based on fostering critical competence, learning democracy and pluralistic narratives about every event, while laying the foundations for deep knowledge of the past. In this spirit, history should be taught in Greece primarily by historians (graduates of history departments), making it more specific, while the annual curriculum would be beneficial to include specific subjects, for which each teacher will use literature sources, historiographic evidence, primary and secondary sources, conducting a lesson open to participation, dialogue, interaction between members of the learning community and the teacher.

I therefore consider that the lesson should ‘escape’ the sterile decontamination of a (single) book of history disseminated by the Ministry of Education. It has been noted that all pupils forget essential information in the lesson, while the lesson gets a museum and distanced connotation, without interest to children. Of particular interest is citizens’ ignorance in history, constantly reproducing citizens without a structured political and historical consciousness.

History can also be approached by history teachers as an object of science that communicates with a wide range of disciplines, even in the direction of study. Consider for example the history of science and the work of the Max Planck Research Institute.

This opens up the spiritual horizons of students in history, touching with the appropriate scientific calm and issues of concern to the present, such as climate change, the environment, and even the relationship between them and the pandemic and the heightened risk of epidemics in the twenty-first century.

In view of all the above, it is crucial to use young people with a specialisation in history for this subject and to create a new curriculum in secondary education, initially in the general direction of study, by releasing this subject from the requirements of the pan-Hellenic examination competition.

Thank you in advance

The EU needs to strengthen the European identity in order to build a stronger Europe. We need to motivate the EU population to embrace our common values and our 'unity in diversity'. There is a need to move out into the streets to reach the millions of EU citizens who have neither knowledge of- nor sympathy for the EU project.

Let's ask our youth, the best change-agents, to lead this process and organise massive street festivals in every EU country on Europe Day (May 9th). Because youth will come to free music and dance. The youth can grap this opportunity to raise their voices about their concerns (youth rights, climate change etc.) and be heard. And make Europe Day a public holiday across the EU, to create that feeling of European 'togetherness'... More info on: europafestival .eu

The proposal I would like to bring to your attention is the urgent adoption of a directive or other legislation requiring all 27 Member States to include in their pre-university courses a joint programme of economic and financial education with a final certification examination that can be spent on the labour market in the EU. This proposal, if heard by the European legislator, has thus become a reality:
Would strengthen financial literacy, thereby improving the private management of savings and affecting the monetary policy of the Union and in particular the euro area at macroeconomic level (presumably within
the meaning of Article 3 (c) TFEU). A, B and C of Article 4 TFEU, while also promoting consumer protection (presumably
within the meaning of Article 4 (F) TFEU)
through a

widespread balance of risk in the trading of financial products and in relation
to banking institutions. In this way, it would be necessary to produce responsible voters that would stifle the phenomena of sovereignty and anti-Europeanism, which often base their political agenda on propaganda that reflects institutions such as
the ECB, the ESM and the EIB as ‘demones’ that threaten national sovereignty.
— by
putting in place
a common education pathway in the EU as well as in the EU as
a whole, as well as in the EU as a whole, it could bring about integration
in terms of both employment and intereducational, and make more constructive projects of fundamental importance such as Erasmus +.
— if approved successfully, such a measure could give an impetus to national legislators in the structural reform of their education systems, often maintained in specific settings over 30 or 40 years ago and a primary source of inequality within the Union itself.

I believe that, given the sensitive nature of the issues and the influence that such an intervention may have on the lives of young Europeans, strong legislative and joint action by the European institutions is absolutely necessary in order to implement such a measure. Some initiatives on social media or voluntary laboratories presumably do not reach out to other people than those of professionals or young people who are already interested in these issues, thus wasting funds and energy from a Europe that can now wait no longer.

First, we must teach children the spirit of innovation and creativity from a young age, we must also Determine the right learning method for your child. People learn in different ways, and it is important to recognize and adapt to this. Some children are visual in their learning, meaning they learn best by watching videos and graphs, and computers with large, high-resolution screens are ideal for them. Others are sensory in their learning, as they process information through their physical senses. And learning using “Ultrabook” computers or a computer that uses touch, voice control and gestural movements provides a truly interactive experience that is perfectly suited to this type of child.

Many young people have limitations on independence from family residence, such as the financial constraint, but these limitations increase when you are a young person with disabilities, as factors such as mobility, accessibility, etc. are at stake, leading to a lot of insecurity for the young person.
For this reason, I propose that the governments of the Member States construct housing properties accessible to people with disabilities only, where people with disabilities are rented for living in one of these apartments.
Furthermore, in order to make this initiative more accessible and striking for the disabled, I propose that these holdings have various types of social workers (employment technicians, rehabilitation technicians, special education teachers, social educators, spicologists, etc.) and cleaning services, who will offer their services at the lowest possible price to residents.
Finally, in order to increase revenues and make this initiative more profitable, I propose to enable the ground floor of this estate as a small leisure centre open to the public and a bar/restaurant.
In this way, governments will support the autonomy of people with disabilities by providing them with sufficient housing and resources to live independently and self-sufficient and create new jobs with sufficient income to make the recovery of the money invested in this initiative quite viable.

#StandForSomething | Language education in some Mediterranean-European countries, in general, is deficient. Only a few can afford private schools or academies in order to learn English in an appropriate way. Full command of a third language is extremely rare. We propose European exchanges of teachers, so that in the public education system there are native teachers who can effectively teach their own language to students.

The EU must move forward: language education should start in day care centres, and not just in English: if efforts were made to establish a priority market outside the EU for each region and for this language to be taught in nursery schools, in addition to English and their own native language, students would be able to learn a strategic third language very easily, something that would boost economic growth | #StandForSomething

Aspects such as sedentary lifestyles or the food we eat shape our habits and, therefore, our quality of life. The EU could design specific Erasmus+ programs aimed at young people so they can learn how to have healthy lifestyles through cooking. It would be an innovative and attractive way to combat the so-called ‘pandemic obesity'. Likewise, it would serve to value diets such as the Mediterranean. These courses could be taught by the elderly, in order to rescue these traditional recipes that are at risk of being lost forever. In addition, this would help to forge intergenerational dialogues and it would fight against old people’s loneliness. | #StandForSomething

USHER - Unified System of Higher Education Recognition
European Univeristies need unified system for studies evaluation. It should make ERASMUS programme easier. Also it should allow to participate online lectures from different countries as a part of curriculum. It should replace local country similar systems. All EU countries should apply ECTS grading system (A-F) as main with 30 ECTS points per semester. Also it should contain automatic converter of grades from partner countries without Bologna process. I have a lot of ideas, but i do not know exactly how security will be handled with this.

Since I was a child, I have always been told that because I was a woman, I would have to work harder than men to achieve the goals I had set for myself. It wasn't until I got to college that I had the opportunity to listen to strong women who had achieved what they set out to do and who told me that no goal was unattainable and gave me advice on how to deal with the possible situations I might encounter in my career as a woman. I would have liked to hear those voices much earlier and I think it is something that should be promoted from an early age to all girls within the compulsory education system.

Make hope the language of Europe.

Hopefully is the easiest of languages: It learns like any other language, but its rational design makes it possible to reach a level of usage in a few months of learning.
It is a language that puts everyone on an equal footing.
No rivalry because neutral: It is not the language of any country or of any people.
It is a good solution in English, which is an elitist solution: Not all citizens have the ability to learn a complex foreign language, in France, when leaving school, a minority has a satisfactory level after a decade of teaching.
As English is becoming dependent on the United States and England, the loss of income in tourism and industry amounts to billions: Foreign tourists prefer English-speaking countries to travel in languages and economic negotiations are increasingly easier to conduct in their mother tongue.
In 2005, the Grin report estimated this loss to be EUR 25 billion per year for the EU.

I am not aware of the reality in other European countries, so I refer to the Italian one. “Inclusion in the school of migrant children who do not know Italian”. Children are now placed in classrooms and learn Italian while they are also asked for curriculum learning. Often the consequence is one or more difficulties that are certified, either with support and 104, or with DSA.
I propose intensive courses by Italian (when children are young, including parents, with special attention to mothers) and as children become autonomous in both understanding and production, they fit into the classrooms for the learning required by the school. The Child Neuropsychiatry Service now certifies and declares disabled or dyslexic children, who could in fact learn independently and have education that is almost in line with others. Perhaps the costs for supporting teachers and teachers teaching Italian are perhaps the same, but the benefit for individual children and the whole class has never been taken into account.
Thanks.

Improve education

Change the way of teaching, almost in Spain, also I think that Governments should reduce class hours in order to make the education less boring and stressful, also I think that they should reduce the exams and the homework in order to allow students to relax. Finally I think that we should have more holidays and the weeks could have three days of weekend instead of two.

In particular, the Second World War, Nazism, Holocaust etc. Many young Europeans currently do not know even that it is the Holocaust, this should be tackled by more effective and extensive teaching on the subject.

, one of the projects would be to facilitate studies on the geographical area. (as a result of Brexit many farmers had to cancel their Erasmus projects)
and the last project would be to combat school bullying, which affects bcp young Europeans.

First of all, outdoor activities.
Running and cycling are still the Cheapest and simplest forms of exercise. Unfortunately, today sports events do not receive the support of governments and central institutions – the organisers, due to the absence of financing by commercial companies (this limit funds), shift the burden of financing participation in the events onto the participants. Increasing the attractiveness of physical activity by increasing expenditure on promotional campaigns in the media – today millions of euros are spent on promoting the so-called e-sport and no one is interested in supporting mass sport and sport of children and youth.
(1) A cycle of road runs in Healthy Europe; competition on many levels – schools, universities, the elderly;
2) Rankings, virtual competitions, mass runs – we like to COMPARE, Compete and evaluation in various Classifications
3 x 30 x 130 – three times a week, for a minimum of 30 minutes and with heart rate above 130, it is worth instilling this principle in young people

Madalena Duarte  • 07 September 2021

My idea is that the European Union should encourage and help young people to practice sports. I am aware that some country's government really encourage and provide help for the young people, for them to being able to practice sports and at the same time, study (inc. high studies). But the truth is that in some cases, (as Portugal), there are actually unfair situations within sports. I take for exemple the Judo team, that didn't go to the mundial championship because the state refused to pay for the travel, and even the uniforms! They were representing the country. That is why i am writing this idea. I ask the European Union to encourage and invest in the practice of sports, when it comes to represent a country that is member of the EU in important competitions. And also to facilitate the entrance of sportives students in EU universities (in order to encourage healthy habits within the young people).

We have an education system in France that is no longer suited to this generation (many rules date back to the 19st century, in particular the scoring system, etc.). Unlocking guidance budgets to recruit not only professors or guidance advisers.
Take an example of Norway or other countries that seem to have understood that the main thing is not learning by heart but learning to learn, and have given an important place to physical and cultural activities.
And to promote, promote and facilitate the learning of the languages of the youngest age groups and, above all, to recognise that starting from 1 year to learn a language is more valuable and not a year of loss.

As we know, there are many inequalities between European countries, one of those are inequalities in education systems and amount of possibilities, etc.
Unfortunately, the ability to learn, write and read isn't universal, so we have more than 700 million people with no basic literacy skills. Some countries have safe and equipped schools and very functional education systems, on the other hand, many European countries do not. European Union should provide law and develop a proper plan for European public education, which would provide financial assistance to improve equipment and safety in public schools and other educational institutions, besides financial support plan should include ways in which we can make teaching more interesting and efficient.
To sum up, Digital Education Action Plan should focus on reducing inequalities between education systems and amount of possibilities for students. European Union must invest in education because it is the only way for further development and a better future for young people.

Especially in Slovakia, it is necessary to change the education system. Remembering the curriculum does not lead to true wisdom. There is a need for a greater supply of leisure activities in schools and, finally, to actually start using the public money earmarked for this and the associated strict control over the use of this money to achieve these goals. More interested in mental health and environmental issues as another school-specific subject, rather than as a once-a-year workshop. It is necessary to introduce a looser atmosphere in schools so that children, and especially adolescents, enjoy going to school. It needs to teach city and state laws in civics (school subject), because later everybody just say that unawareness of the law does not justify us. It is necessary to create a "network of opportunities", where organizations, events, activities, competitions and other opportunities for the development of ideas, talent, etc. will be gathered. And help these children and guide them where and how they can present their idea, find support and obtain funding to implement their idea, advice, etc. Also to teach children independence, responsibility, financial literacy and officials as such ... to know as elders and adults when they separate from their parents where and what to deal with, pay which state authority responsible for what and where to send the requests, how to handle health insurance company, how and when you need to register with the employment office, what they can and can't do, etc. Educate the wise and ready for adult life people.

Reorganising the education system. At school, we learn things that are not useful for a better adult life. In a secondary school, we learn, for example, what an onomathopathy is, how the various layers of clouds are called. After leaving school, we cannot write a CV or complete a PIT correctly. At every stage of education, there are many so-called ‘pushers’, i.e. we learn subjects that are not needed for us, or we have sufficient basic knowledge. My idea is to put in place a system of education that prepares children and young people for a more independent life. Increasing the number of languages in school from the youngest. With the large migration of our populations, we should lead by example from our neighbours and learn 4/5 languages that are so useful today.

I firmly believe in Public education. Education should be free in all levels, from infants school up to university. Education is a basic human right that should be affordable for all. It is necessary for national and international institutions, to provide the tools for every student to be able to study online during the sanitary crisis. It is now more visible than ever the gap of opportunities between the wealthier and the poorer, this is why Governments should invest more money in education. A more educated society, is a more free society. An educated society is less vulnerable to unemployment.

They could share their culture, language, traditions, learn from each other, find new friends, and also have fun. “A new age of Enlightenment” : The great economic and environmental crises, are not the roots of our problems. They are just the result. The result of a poorly structured society at cultural and educational levels. || What’s the vision of today’s schools and universities? To educate us on how to become “high skilled” employers or corporate executives? This approach degrades and humiliates not only our educational system but also our own culture and civilization. || With this kind of mindset, still wonder that we face environmental crisis, wars, exploitation, denial of scientific results (such as covid-related things), and decreasing of democratic values all around the world? || We desperately need to use philosophy in our education (especially in STEM) in order to motivate active citizenship behavior and redefine Europe’s culture at local, national, and pan-European level, before reaching a point of no return. || Can philosophy make any change? History has proven so, many times! From the founding of Democracy in Classical Athens in the 6th century b.c., through the “Age of Enlightenment” in the 17th century, intellectual and philosophical movements that dominated the world of ideas were the kick-starters for a radical change. Probably, even us, we wouldn’t have this conversation now in the European Parliament, if it weren’t for these movements. || If not now, when? If not us, who?

Zlata Cula (YEA)  • 14 September 2021

From my observation, the schools in my country (Bulgaria), and not only, have not been prepared for the situation of working remotely in an online environment. Teachers and students were not familiar with and trained to work with online educational platforms. There is a huge negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the educational system in the country. Some of the students could not and still cannot afford to provide digital devices for the educational process; there is a lack of connection between the professors and students and respectively the level of efficiency in the learning process is lower.
At the same time, there is an increased inattention of students (mainly in the high school stage) in the classes. Again, the lack of effective control and low personal responsibility to the educational process of some of them lead to a violation of the whole learning process. This situation, I reckon, would change with delegating more powers to teachers to apply sanctions against similar types of behaviour.
It is known that during the pandemic situation the education cannot be held in person, unfortunately, but I think there are other ways of coping with this problem: I consider that online education can be improved by ensuring equal access for all students to the online remote training by providing technical means, by finding diverse free resources, by giving more practical exercises for students which they should do at home, by restoration of teacher control mechanisms - follow-up of absences and real assessment of the mastered learning material in the standard evaluation range. And for younger students, a suitable approach is synchronous teaching in which children have constant contact with the teacher and classmates and the tasks are performed together in real time.

Nerses Hovsepyan  • 14 September 2021

An idea from a Young European Ambassador (YEA)

In many cases the higher education in the EU is still very exclusive. The fee gap between EU students and non-EU students is enormous. Moreover, in many EU countries non-EU students are deprived of the same (economic, employment, social, etc.) privileges that EU students enjoy. Meanwhile I do believe that non-EU students are in more severe need of those benefits and privileges.
Drawing from this, an idea that I have is that member states, EU institutions and other responsible bodies should work in the way of eliminating the “privilege gap” between EU and non-EU students, by gradually granting non-EU citizens equal rights and benefits. Sadly, though, it seems like the issue hasn’t been amplified enough, and at least I haven’t seen it being addressed properly at any responsible institution/ government body.

Safe and stable access to the Internet should be made easily available for all the young people by the National Authorities. The Internet and various digital tools have allowed us to continue education and stay connected during the ongoing sanitary crisis. Yet, the global pandemic has also highlighed the existing digital divide whereby a large number of young people was excluded from the education provcess due to lack of stable Internet connection in their area, inability to cover related expenses or purchase equipment. As education is a human right, quality Internet access should be seen and promoted by the EU as a key to ensuring that right or a new human right of its own.
It is also important to mainstream teaching critical thinking and digital literacy both as part of formal and non-formal education so that young people can navigate better a new learning environment and deal better with such challeges as disinformation, cybersecurity, and data protection.
It is imperative that education systems are updated to better address the current needs and teach core digital skills from an early age.
Ultimately, citizens who are able to access reliable sources online, analyze facts, and make well-informed decisions play a central role in a democracy and will only strengthen the EU and the Member States.

for me, rather than focusing on digital education, emphasis should be placed on returning school and university activities, as digitalisation loses the relationship and sense of community that offers education. Common educational platform

Adaptive learning and testing system that has core features and curriculum and is extensibile on country/school level; a starting point can be Khan Academy; it could make the teaching/learning process much more efficient.

Some things related courses: the lessons should be split in smaller bits (similar to Coursera, Khan Academy) and be better connected with the real life problems (e.g. computing area of a house, planing a trip, learning how to learn, finances etc); students from different countries could collaborate on different team projects, similar to Erasmus, but it will be on just a click distance :); it could also have learning helpers like space repetition systems (eg. Anki)

It can start as a basic adaptive platform for core things on math and digital competencies for primary/secondary school; and add afterwards features iteratively.

Prerequisites: enough computers and access to internet; things to alleviate this: platform available offline, optimized for slow internet speeds, PCs shared by multiple students.

The condition of the health pill in many places is fatal. There is a gross unequal treatment of persons with ‘privileged’ (families or friends of politicians, celebrities) compared to others in the health service funded by the budget.
Citizens of the community should indicate the place of treatment in the locality – the officials they have elected for the term of office (mayors, city presidents, provincial governors or district governors). In this way, all medical establishments would achieve a reasonably equal, good level of service offered.

EU institutions should do more to provide access to EU students in other EU countries.

Admission requirements vary by country disadvantaging some from being able to access university studies in other countries. The Non-Discrimination principle is not enough to cover the access to students in other countries.

A measure which guarantees the access of EU students in University studies in other EU countries needs to be adopted.

Thus, a central ENIC-NARIC center which will uphold fair cooperation between countries needs to be created. Further, legislation which creates a binding nature of diploma recognition must be adopted.

Access to university education is a matter of EU law, and the disrespect and hostility some EU countries show to some EU students should not be tolerated.

I think education is the most important thing. The pandemic gave us the opportunity to attend important events online. I think it would be great if there was an Erasmus + event where representatives from different countries would share their experiences, in addition it would be very interesting how young people can get an education in European countries and what opportunities the EU provides for that. It would also be interesting to set up an online camp where young people from different countries would share their culture, opinions and help create a more diverse and tolerant environment.

Regarding that situation, we (a multi-disciplinary team: Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Engineering and Marketing) have created Amalgama Development. Our vision was to speed up an online platform in which job opportunities for the youth can be created. Such opportunities have to cause an impact on the Sustainable Development Goals. We connect companies who want to introduce Changemakers into their projects with such Changemakers who want to work in the next generation of companies. We reliably confirm that by doing that, we will achieve our mission, to increase youth employability by creating job opportunities and by teaching them new skills and competences in the Online Community.

School Education is one of the most important stages in our lives, which influences the professional and social parts of it. Therefore, it is important not to stop improving this area, not lagging behind global trends, if we want to raise generations of the future, not the past.
As a student, who is directly involved in education, I have three ideas how to improve it:

1. Establishing a program "Leader in Me" in schools.
''Leader in Me'' is a whole-school transformation model and process developed in partnership with educators that empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. It is based on principles and practices of personal, interpersonal and organizational effectiveness, and upon the powerful premise that every child possesses unique strengths and has the ability to be a leader. A successful example of an educational institution based on the ''Leader in Me'' in Ukraine is Novopecherska School. Read more about it here:
https://novoshkola.com.ua/en/philosophy
https://www.leaderinme.com/
2. Introduction of mandatory sorting of secondary raw materials at schools.
Talking about the importance of preserving the environment in biology lessons is not enough. It is necessary to instill in children from an early age a culture of conscious and proper waste management.
3. More research - less theory.
The natural sciences should not be studied from books! Conducting experiments, research, provides an opportunity to better understand the essence of science and motivates to study them in later life.

I have a suggestion for those countries where vocational schools are not very popular or they are not provided with financial support by the governments. It is estimated that 35% of the Youth who graduate secondary school are unemployed and the main reason is that they don’t have competencies and skills to enter into the workforce. So, the government must take this fact into consideration and assume of opening vocational schools for those students who want to learn different professions and don’t want to graduate only secondary school with a piece of paper which means nothing for those students classified in the future as “incompetent.”

Firstly: I am asking that European funds move more downwards without the intermediary of offices – which is a bureaucratic disincentive for many small activists and NGOs – and through local European coordinators available in local communities. The main problem is the volume of forms created by the authorities and required from business makers, who do not usually specialise in formalities and inexpensive formalities. The forms should be simplified as much as possible (up to 1 pages, max 3 pages) because they are not. Unfortunately, the simplest forms for NGOs are only available for low-volumes up to 1000pln/250EUR.
Second – Please ensure that small funds (but not small ones, at least 4000pln/1000EUR) are also available to non-incorporated makers, which is currently almost impossible or very limited – for those who undertake useful activities publicly without associations/NGOs/legal entities.

Imo the problem with ESG topics is that it reaches only one part of EU population and uses the language known by only that particular part (educated, good standard of living etc). But using sport, cultural & entertainment events to create awareness, raise motivation and more important to show the "how might you help" will reach all that are impacted.

Liberal Arts education should be made compulsory in schools throughout the EU. My home country, Romania, has virtually none of it. Critical thinking should be taught since first grade, similarly to what some schools in the US are doing, as well as schools in Finland and elsewhere in the EU. Rather than fighting the governments of Hungary, Poland, and other illiberal hotspots, why don’t we introduce some basic education practices in EU laws and mandate them to precede national laws.

It’s not just primary: universities and doctoral schools in Romania (as I assume, in other Eastern European countries) don’t even teach our “elites” basic systematic research skills. This, in addition to news literacy skills, would help our union progress, and limit the illiberal and unscientific biases, such as anti-vax, conspiracy theories, and the sort.

Liberal Arts, theatre productions, music programs, immersive art productions, Model UN projects and such in middle and high school classrooms will help propel our citizens to a much more inclusive and progressive generation.

We could start with more training for our faculties, and continue with EU-level programs and competitions, including Eurovision-style broadcasts for Model UN - or “Model-EU” finals for our youngsters.

It would be beneficial for the youth of these countries to have places where they can meet the EU representatives, learn about best practices in the education, culture and sports and to implement initiatives under the auspices of such a platform.

Education
n.e.c.:
I do not randomly describe my idea in German. Even if I am not a German mother tongue, I can be fluent in this language and it is important that we learn the official languages of the EU.

Nowadays, English is scarcely out of our lives. English is an international language that allows people to communicate and exchange with many people from all over the world. However, English is by no means the only official language of the European Union. Each of the 24 official languages of the EU is beautiful and unique in its own way. This uniqueness and diversity should be celebrated and given more prominence. I therefore think that young people should be encouraged to learn other official EU languages as well. If you learn a new language, you don’t get to know the culture and history of each country. In this way, we can make an important contribution to better understanding between people from different countries and cultures. Learning foreign languages also promotes tolerance, understanding, respect and curiosity towards other cultures. But how

to step up learning about the official languages of the EU? In my view, this can only be achieved if incentives and opportunities are created. It would be an advantage to create a platform to learn the official languages of the EU free of charge.

It would also be good if more events in the context of EU projects were held not only in English, but also in other official languages of the EU. In addition, more linguistic and cultural meetings and exchanges for young people should be organised. They can serve as a great motivation to learn other languages and to be interested in other cultures.

A stronger focus and celebration of this linguistic diversity could bring EU countries closer to the EU not only economically and politically, but also culturally and linguistically.

The situation, which took place due to the spread of fakes in the EU, showed that the population needs additional knowledge on the topic of misinformation. I believe that schoolchildren and students should have some basic skills in this area. The world is constantly evolving and in the future new disinformation campaigns are not excluded.
Therefore, I propose to create a program for them, in the process of which they have acquired practical skills of proper analysis of information from any source.

Anastasiia Nardied (YEA)  • 25 September 2021

There is not enough informational coverage for disinformation, security on the Internet and human rights.
Nowadays this knowledge is vital and children must be taught such basics in school, so they will feel themselves more confident in the future.
It can be implemented both as part of formal and non-formal education.
In addition, we should focus also on soft skills. One of them - critical thinking - would be really helpful for younger generations, especially in terms of disinformation and Internet security.

Exchange studies abroad should be more affordable and have higher scholarships. As well, there should be more such opportunities for students from EaP countries.
As of now, the Erasmus+ scholarship for Ukrainian students in Finland is 950 euros and the bilateral agreement scholarship is 450 euros per month. This is not enough for a living, especially if you cannot get a part-time job in the country to support yourself.
From my knowledge, the EU students are required to study abroad for one term (at least, in some EU countries) and almost all of them get that experience. At the same time, in Ukraine, around 20 students compete for one Erasmus+ scholarship, and many of them are outstanding candidates, though, not all of them get to use that chance which is disadvantageous both for the students and the EU in the long-term perspective.

Stavroula Chousou  • 27 September 2021

Further enhancement of Erasmus in a more holistic, inclusive manner. More opportunities for EU students to study/work abroad, more consideration for financial backgrounds and an after-erasmus short documentation of every youngster, so that the exchange of culture and experiences will be available for all. Erasmus exchanges are at the heart of EUs norm setting soft power and should be upgraded as such, especially in the pandemic times.

An idea from the Young European Ambassador (YEA):

Internet and technologies play a crucial role in our lives. However, every single day I meet people (mostly youngsters) who do not have sufficient knowledge about the use of technologies. Because of that they face many obstacles, for example, during COVID-19 pandemic, during which school students just had no idea how to use new Apps for lessons, etc. Therefore, I believe that there should be high school mandatory classes, during which students will be taught digital literacy. In addition, there should be more free courses/trainings where everyone will have the oportunity to broaden knowledge about use of technologies. I assume that it will be one of the best contributions to their future careers.

Would it be useful to also put some thought into what education means while we work for it?
If yes, then an initiative such as Higher Education Project (https://higher-education.eu) could be useful for this very purpose. This project puts accent on the essential role that the individual has on his education, regardless of the starting point and it has recently been crafted with love and with very limited resources to offer free access to educational resources and to research on Education Studies as a subject discipline itself.
The project is ready for growth and welcomes your attention to reach it's goals: help scholars and not only to learn more about how education could be understood, about recommended approaches to one's education, about the alignment to the various professional careers, about critical, creative, systemic and global thinking and much more.

Financial education is an extremely interesting and useful field. Especially in countries such as Romania or Bulgaria, most people do not have savings, live at the limit of subsistence and fight for food every day. Not for the future, but for the mail-day: (.
It is essential that young people understand that the state will not pay them a pension (that it will no longer be from where), that they have no plan for their own children, which they regret. Fear of the future and of poverty will create more and more people with fear, anxiety and psychological problems. There is a need for official programmes, supported by specialists in schools (from smaller ages) and massive information campaigns among young people and adults. The countries of civilisation are an example of the poorly developed ones, but need to be involved and ultimately EDUCARE!
Financial education for a better world!

Investment in political education programs on school.
It is important for young people to have more information about politics, so that in the future they can make free choices based on knowledge of the different existing ideologies and consequently identify themselves more.

Mariam Ketsbaia (Young European Ambassador)  • 28 September 2021

One of the biggest struggles students face is choosing the career paths they want to follow. Only occupations they consider are popular ones in society, familiar to be exact. That is why apprising students of different kinds of professions and offering them hands-on experience is imperative. Living in a digital era presents a great advantage for us to achieve this goal by hosting virtual events. Since many youngsters consider continuing their studies abroad, taking a year or two to learn more and grow, it would be immensely helpful to meet with experts from various fields on an international level.
Unfortunately, to have a college counselor is a rare opportunity, only a few schools in my country offer, and I would love to see this change. Drawing from personal experience, it is not easy to make a decision about the next several years, and to have a professional, who could advise me, would be great!
I believe these ideas would benefit every European and its partnership countries, to have future generations who are diverse in terms of their knowledge and set of skills.

Education: mix up children(poor and rich, smart and dumb, races etc). Travel more, make more sports, encourage interaction. In RO this goes the other way - we started to put children in front of laptops now - like mini corporate employees. Where is this leading us? I always ask: why don't the institutions always follow the best available example out there on the market already? There is already examples of better education, better anything. Why don't you just take 5 variations and apply them as per situation requires, but please use what other already proved to be good. Stop waitsing money and effort in creating something new al the time.

The consequences of the pandemic are particularly severe for micro, small and social enterprises.
Enterprises in the rural areas of Georgia found themselves in difficult conditions due to their limited access to the market and their difficulty in adapting to the current situation.
According to the Caucasus Barometer, 46% of household representatives do not have computer knowledge at all, which can create additional problems for entrepreneurs.
The current situation has shown the importance of knowledge of information and communication technologies and marketing strategies for entrepreneurs to adapt to this unstable situation.
I believe that the development of modern digital skills is now as important as it has ever been before for all people.

An EU operated website containing information about all universities in the EU, their recquirements, tuition fee, avaible courses and the language of the course would be extremely useful.

Response to Bogdán Rebeka by Liliana Melo  • 01 October 2021

To add to this, somehow uniformize each countries' educational structure. Each EU member has its own educational program for at least 12 years of learning and when it comes time for citizens to seek higher education, especially outside their country, it becomes obvious the lack of preparation they have to confront a whole new different system in a whole different country. Where one country only asks for specific grades or exams, another one asks for academic papers, language certification (very expensive, such as IELTS), and motivation letters. For someone who didn't have prior instruction (or experience) to subjects like Academic Essays, it can be very complicated to complete an application, while also thinking about loans or scholarships (which are also a nightmare to research and get information on).

To summarize: Europe needs a more comprehensive and uniform educational system (minding each member's cultural and historical specifications), an organised website to further students education and more and concise scholarship information.

Schools should teach about volunteering.
Post-soviet countries', including Eastern Neighborhood countries' educational systems lack popularity in non-formal learning. Volunteering develops social skills and offers practical experiences, which school children can further use for real-life applications. Volunteering supports solidarity, inclusion, tolerance, therefore promotes European values among young people, to whom our future belongs.

We, the Georgian youth, are facing the challenges such as the lack of access to comprehensive information, information that includes issues on gender equality and stereotypes, human rights, reproductive health and rights. Youth, which are representatives of ethnic minority groups in Georgia face problems such as integration and early marriage. The main challenge for youth in small towns and villages is that they have no places for gathering, where they can come together and develop, share their ideas with one another or implement various community projects. Furthermore, it is important to ensure the involvement of youth with disabilities in the decision-making process. The state should elaborate and provide various support mechanisms.

A fundamental right of any citizen is to receive a full education, which cannot be effectively provided by the education systems of specific countries. My idea arose from the existence of a current problem, which implies that students, after the closure of the basic level in schools, study subjects that are neither in their field of interest nor in their skills, accordingly, they are evaluated by the same criteria as a particular student who understands and likes a particular subject. After the completion of the basic level, a student who is evaluated in a particular subject (which does not correspond to his / her skills at the academic level) is evaluated in the same way as another student whose field of interest is this subject.Consequently, motivation, a sense of fairness are lost, and in many cases the student loses special skills. Therefore, my idea is as follows: after closing the basic level, I definitely believe that the student should be able to choose the desired direction, which will be a prerequisite for entering universities in the first place, will contribute to professionalism and increase competencies.

Since 2019 in my country (Ukraine) there has exsisted a good tradition of cooperation between Ukrainian Fashion Week and NGO "Group of active rehabilitation", which activity is related to rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
There were initiated online and offline make-up and hairstyle courses for both women and men with different kinds of disabilities. 10 best graduates of these courses were invited to work during Ukrainian Fashion Week.
The main idea of these projects was to show people with disabilities that disabilities are not the obstacle for having the real profession. The initiators of the project were proud to say that several graduates did really start working in fashion industry and even run their own business.
So I think It would be a good idea to use this experience in European Countries and develop cooperation network in this sphere between the EU member-states and the Eastern Partnership countries in order to show that different countries all over the continent are standing together to support people who might have lost their hope.

On the local municipal levels Cultural and Creative Industries' Sector including its all sub-sectors and their representatives must be properly supported by local governments. In cities different stakeholders should work inclusively and simultaneously to elaborate "CCI Action Plan" with participation of CCI Representatives. "Cultural mapping" should be conducted periodically to identify local resources after which an "Action Plan and the Development Strategy" will be made with engagement, support and coordination of the relevant EU, National and Local Institutions.

One hour of foreign language studies like for example german should be spend on talks between students in the same age gaps on some sort of video calls because then they will share their knowledge of this language and perfect whilst having no other choice than using that language. If you have to talk let's say in german in class you already speak your native language as does your speaking partner so it's easy to avoid it or backtrack. If for example student from Italy has to talk english with a student from Czechia then they have no other choice if not to speak it. It would also help young people with understanding cultures and situations of other contries while letting them integrate as well. It could be a project founded by the EU by paying for extra hours for teachers or just buying the schools subscribcions for communication apps/programs.

My idea sounds like "Show me your sport"

After gaining considerable European experience through Erasmus+ programmes (Academic, short-term, EVS) students should be attractive for the municipalities to share this knowledge and skills to their community, Even though many do this job voluntarily and contribute this experience to their communities, city hollies and councils do not know much about active youth workers or educators.
the way out: One or two YEAs should be nominated as a delegate of the youth in their city councils as they know more about the challenges and the needs of their community. They will play the role of bridge between the community, municipal representatives and EU institutions in Georgia. These delegates may share experiences from their counterparts from six EaP states.

impact: Voice of youth will be heard at the municipal level and more active youngsters will contribute to the regional development. More youngsters will be involved in the decision-making process at the local level that will further enhance political culture and encourage youth to present their ideas in their local councils.

My idea is as follows:
In Germany, there was once more military service, which has now been suspended. My proposal would have to be adopted at EU level for all EU citizens aged between 18 and 20. At least 12 months in an EU country other than their own show a service with language courses or approximately 12 months of military service in a European army or hopefully soon in the only European army.

This would extend the scope of the European Voluntary Service and make it mandatory. In my view, this would lead to a better growth of the EU together, as future generations have been abroad and have been familiar with the local population as people.
Perhaps you
might also say 6 months of service in the home country and 6 months abroad in the EU. This would enable service providers to learn and already carry out the activity in their mother tongue and then to do so in another country.
The
philosophy is clear to me:)

In many countries there is a serious lack of funding for sport. I recommend a surcharging (90 %) of football revenues, where billions of euros are passed on annually and the financing of national Olympic Committees, which distribute funds more fairly. In European football, people have a lot of added value, without research and innovation, without any real public use. This would encourage other healthy and beautiful sports. Moreover, most football are not good examples to follow in society.

Mathew Malik  • 01 October 2021

As a citizen of a proud member of the EU, I find the lack of education centered around the European Union in our schools disturbing. There is little to no teaching being done in this area, which I believe is a potential risk that can one day grow over our heads. Most of my classmates know nothing about the history of the EU, nor its structure or leadership, or in what affairs it is involved. It got even worse with the recent events regarding covid and has not gotten any better, since there are always ''more important things to learn'', as we are being told. But what can be more important than knowing about an international community your country is a part of? Nothing, as it shapes the future of all of us. This has to stop.

Olá, it’s a pleasure to talk to you in this way. I disagree with your idea on some points. Fortunately, the impact of a large investment and the creation of international funds, we can say with confidence that the EU has a considerably higher level of education than a large part of the world, I think this is a good reason for us to feel happy! I think it is quite clear that there are several flaws, but a lot of effort and commitment is needed to resolve them. Topics such as education take a considerable time to be solved!

LYMEC's vision on political priorities - Empowering Young People

Empowering Young People:
• To tackle youth unemployment, barriers have to be removed. Important steps include the mutual recognition of vocational and academic degrees, removal of protectionist policies and support for a single European Job Market. European institutions need to designate more high
risk funding to young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial networks in connection to academic institutions. The status of “student entrepreneur” needs to be created and promoted in all European countries.
• Following the UK’s departure from the EU and from the Erasmus+ programme, the EU should continue to promote bilateral cooperation and exchange programmes between UK and EU higher education institutions.
• The voting age for European Parliament elections should be lowered to 16 across all Member States.
• The European institutions must involve young people in various working structures and decision- making bodies, especially those issues that are directly relevant to young people.
• The EU needs to promote programmes aimed at the strengthening of an EU common identity and training programmes that spread knowledge among EU youth about the relevance and day-to-day functioning of the EU.

Politicians often talk about children and young people rather than with us, but they want children and young people to express themselves and to have our perspective on issues.

There are enormous numbers of children and young people who are engaged and want to promote their thoughts and ideas, but many are not in a position to do so. The school puts an end to it, by denying requested leave in order to be able to go to political arrangements.
There
should therefore be a law allowing all children and young people in the EU to have time off for political contexts. It should not be up to each school to decide whether or not a pupil can attend. If there is commitment, we should let it flourish for everyone’s voices. There are laws that allow adults to go out of work to be politically active, why is it not for children and young people?

Digital education for Over 40 and the elderly

The elderly as well as adults tend to be extremely distrusted and reluctant towards technology, this is mainly due to two different factors: The embarrassment of having to cope with something unknown at post-school age and the tendency of younger people to substitute for digital activities rather than explaining how to do that action in practice. Digital education for older people and adults is a need in a digitalised society like ours, especially in light of the isolation experienced during the pandemic. Basic e-skills become crucial for three reasons:
1. Meeting daily needs
2. Maintain relations with families
3. Stay
4. How to design a digitalised society how can

we teach these actors about the various basic e-skills?
Implement a mentoring programme involving these categories and higher school students. In practice, a technical higher institute is selected, since students study computer technology in those facilities, and in afternoon returns, each student is joined by an elderly or adult, the student teaches basic techniques and becomes a professor. This allows older people or adults to learn and at the same time empowers them to understand the most effective way of passing on what they have learned to others (as well as getting educational credits). Digital ignorance must be combated, especially in a country like my own, where the phenomenon is too widespread among young people, and has become a brake on the economy and education.
